Class 4 Truck Licence

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for people who are wanting to drive trucks and/or buses more than 18,000kg. If you do this course you don’t have to wait 6 months from the time you gain your C4 learners to sit your full licence.

Course Duration:

  • 2 Days (if you can’t provide evidence you have completed training in 24089)
  • 1 Day (if you can provided evidence you have completed training in US 24089 within the last 12months)

Course structure:

  • Day 1: Log Book and Fatigue Management Training.
  • Day 2: Class 4 Theory and Practical Drive.

Study Method:

  • Face to Face – with pre course study.

Entry Requirements:

  • You must have held a class 2 full licence for more than 6 months (3 months if you are over 25). DL9 medical certificate (unless you submitted one to Waka Kotahi in the last 5 years).

  • You must have held a class 1 (car) full licence for more than 6 months. DL9 medical certificate.

Fees and other costs:

  • 2 Day course: 950+gst
  • 1 Day course 850+gst.
  • Prices include all course study material, tuition fees and practical training and assessment. This price does not include truck hire.

Truck Hire:

If you cannot provide your own truck for the practical test we can help, our truck hire fee is 300+gst.

Please note the truck must be loaded to 50% of the GCM.

Unit Standards covered:

17576: Operate a rigid vehicle to meet the requirements for full Class 4 driver licence, Level 3, Credits 7.

24089: Demonstrate knowledge of fatigue management, Work Time, and Driver Logbook requirements, Level 3, Credits 5.

PPE requirement:

Closed in shoes and Hi-viz vest. We will supply the Hi-viz vest.

Once successfully completed all NZQA credits are reported on your record of learning with NZQA.
